"One Tree Hill, Season 7: What I Hope To See"
Dear Mark Schwahn,
If I had my wish regarding what I would like to see on One Tree Hill (OTH) in Season 7 (S-7), here is what I want to see:
1. Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer Scott) and Chad Michael Murray (CMM)(Lucas Scott) as main characters under new contracts, and their characters central to the OTH S-7 story line.
2. Lucas' and Peyton's trials and tribulations as new parents of baby, Sawyer Brooke Scott. Now that OTH has skipped ahead another year and a half, Sawyer will be a toddler by the time we see her again.
3. Peyton adapting her work place to accommodate baby Sawyer while she works, i.e. a new nursery/day care area at Red Bedroom Records at TRIC. Peyton, as a mother, could appeal to a whole new demographic, new and single mothers.
4. Lucas returning to coach the Tree Hill HS Ravens' varsity basketball team. More "on court" basketball scenes of Lucas' Ravens team to retain that flavor of basketball in the series.
5. Lucas starting book number 3 based on his life experiences and those of his friends in Tree Hill, NC, covering the years from HS graduation to their mid-20s.
6. Establish an affiliation between Peyton and her music production/management company with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA. Peyton explores the use of Musical Avatars as a means of producing music videos from a new class of artists, those who don't have "stage appeal", but who have exceptional voices.
7. Re-introduce the character Jake (Bryan Greenberg) and his daughter as a friend to Peyton and Lucas, NOT as a rival for Peyton's affections. Jake could share with the new parents, Lucas and Peyton, his experiences and lessons learned as a single parent raising his daughter Ginny (Jenny?) .
8. Resurrect the relationship between Brooke and Chase Adams to provide a romantic triangle conflict between Brooke and Mia. Since Mia is on the road frequently, Brooke and Chase resume their friendship, with romance to follow.
9. Use the relationships between Julian and Brooke, and Chase and Brooke, to set up another love triangle between Julian (out of town in CA?) and Chase (local to Tree Hill, NC?) for Brooke's affections.
10. Expand the Mother-Daughter conflicts between Brooke and Victoria (Daphne Zuniga), now that their mother-daughter relationship has been restored in their Clothes Over Bros retail business.
11. Since Skills is having problems with the Law in real life, have him break up with Jamie's school teacher and leave town temporarily? Establish a new, recurring character, Paige, the African-American female basketball player with whom Lucas re-united in River City, NC, while Peyton visited her birth mother, Ellie. Paige went to Tree Hill HS during her Freshmen year. Paige has now graduated from college with a degree in physical education, after having starred as a scholarship athlete in women's basketball. Paige now becomes the new Tree Hill Ravens women's basketball coach.
12. LEAVE THE DOOR WIDE OPEN IN THE OTH STORY LINE FOR LUCAS AND PEYTON (CMM and HILARIE BURTON) TO RETURN TO THE SERIES, IF ONE OR BOTH OF THEM ARE NOT UNDER CONTRACT FOR THE ENTIRE S-7.
A. If Lucas (CMM) alone is not under contract for OTH S-7, and HB returns, then put Lucas in New Zealand with his sister Lilly and his mother Karen, working on his third book.
B. If Peyton (Hilarie Burton (HB)) alone is not under contract for OTH S-7, then put Peyton at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA, working on a college degree in entertainment management/graphic arts. There, she can renew her friendship with Jake (Bryan Greenberg) and daughter Ginny.
C. If both Peyton (HB) and Lucas (CMM) are not under contract for OTH S-7, then put them both in New Zealand with Andy, Karen, and Lilly, becoming a family again.
13. If both HB and CMM are not under contract for OTH S-7, SPARE NO EXPENSE to try to lure both of these young stars back to OTH. If they won't come back to OTH full time in S-7, then negotiate with them to make periodic cameo appearances, until their individual circumstances allow them to return to OTH in the future as regular cast members.
HB's departure from OTH S-7 is the least understandable. HB lives in Wilmington, NC, where OTH is produced at Screen Gems Studios. Her new production company, Southern Gothic Productions (SGP), is headquartered there. HB's extended family lives there, and she has said on numerous occasions that she wants to continue to live and work there. HB is currently working to independently produce, through SGP, and with her SGP partners, her own projects as well as expand her talents into writing. HB has proved her multi-tasking capabilities in the past. The CW Network and OTH Creator/Producer/Writer/Director Mark Schwahn have been accommodating to HB in the past.
CMM leaving OTH is easier to understand than HB? This is CMM's third successful TV series ( Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls, and now OTH). CMM has now been able to act, write, and direct episodes of OTH. Even though CMM's movie acting credits are sparse, he may feel that his past TV successes will lead to additional, lucrative, movie prospects in the future.
In conclusion, in my opinion, both HB and CMM should return to OTH for S-7. HB and CMM have the best of all possible worlds in these hard economic times: they are starring in a hit TV series; they have a devoted fan base; and they have a steady job and a regular salary. Please come back, HB and CMM.

I have never thought of One Tree Hill as simply a show. It is an art form. It is a collection of souls, heart, and thoughts. It is a metaphor for life. It is an actors bigget accomplishment. For some it may be a weekly therapy session, or just an escape for hte life draining the strenght from their body. One Tree Hill takes scenes from other timless films, like Pulp Fiction. Each character has a large portion of that actor in them. I appreciate One Tree Hill because after I turn off my television set at 10:01 on Monday nights, I do see those actors in the news, or recieving negative media. It preserves their character more, at least in my opinion. It brings a little magic to Wilmington NC. about 10 hours south of where I exist. Every part of that show and crew is thorough, and a little piece of perfection. The art department is wonderful, the directors are ... well words cannot describe them, and that is a good thing. The writing team is more articulate and creative than I could ever aspire to be. And the actors speak for themselves. Personally I love Jackson, as well as the supporting characters. The CORE group wouldn't survive if it werent of them.
So there lay the thoughts that danced across my mind for the past 10 minutes. Your welcome to judge me, agree or disagree. Those are just my feelings, unique and weird as they may be.

Dear Mark,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing Peyton and Lucas to become “engaged” in One Tree Hill (OTH), Season 6, Episode 1. Please, please, please let them get married, become an “inseparable couple”, and experience some wedded bliss and happiness before you challenge them with more of life’s misfortunes. Peyton and Lucas are so perfect, physically and emotionally, for each other, and compliment and fulfill each other in every way, that the whole OTH story line only makes “sense” when they are together, as they are now. There are so many “options”, twists and turns, in the plot line available to you and your writers with Peyton and Lucas together as a couple, and the current “status quo” in their relationship is so satisfying to most of the OTH fans. With Peyton and Lucas together, you can pursue a “Brooke and Chase” relationship option, allow Lindsey to find a new someone else in NYC, and pursue other plot options for Haley, Nathan, James, Dan, Karen, Skills, Mouth, etc.
Here is a thought on how you could even bring Jake (Bryan Greenberg) back into the OTH story line, as a friend of Peyton and Lucas, NOT as a rival to Lucas for Peyton’s affections. Allow Peyton to pursue online internet classes in computer graphics design and animation through the Savannah College of Art and Design ( SCAD). The idea is for Peyton to expand her music management business beyond the Tree Hill, NC area.
Peyton realizes that there are multitudes of talented vocalists and amateur musical performers, who have “virtuoso voices”, but faces, figures, and “stage presence”, which are not “mainstream”. Peyton recognizes the potential to expand her Tree Hill music management business into “music oriented virtual publishing”, and take advantage of this almost “inexhaustible” talent pool.
Peyton conceives of creating “Virtual Video Music Recording Artists”, where actual human voices are paired with copyrighted, unique, male and female “Virtual Musical Avatars” (VMA). VMAs would “perform” on computer graphics rich, music videos, marketed on DVD/CD, along with computer graphics books or “comics”.
To explore the potential for this new music art form, Peyton realizes she needs to get more computer programming, graphic design, and animation knowledge. Pursuing Web-based computer coursework through SCAD in Savannah, GA would allow Peyton to visit the campus of SCAD in Savannah every three or four months. While in Savannah, Peyton could resume her friendship with Jake and his daughter Jenny. Jake could even pursue a business “musical management” relationship with Peyton (if Bryan Greenberg is “available” to return in a recurring role to OTH), either as a solo singer, or as a song writer. Peyton could even apply the VMA music art form to children's’ educational books and music videos. There could be a “tie in” to Brooke’s new line of Clothes Over Bro's children’s clothes? Please think about it.
“Leyton Lovers” must be “ecstatic” about the direction of the current OTH story line thus far in Season 6. When Peyton and Lucas “kiss”, there is a genuine “warmth” that comes from knowing that their “bond” is “destined”, a coming together of true “soul mates”. Peyton and Lucas are so “compatible”, physically “matched”, and “intellectually” stimulating to one another. They are both OTH “good persons”. They “complete” one another, making up for each other’s character flaws. When Lucas is thinking about Peyton, there are “no limits” to his creativity. Peyton is Lucas’ “Muse”. When Peyton is with Lucas, she has the self confidence, praise, appreciation, and “approval”, which she needs to reach her full potential. There is no other “pairing” in the OTH character pool which is so “right” and “natural”.
Mark, please do not go “too dark” in OTH Season 6. After only two S6 episodes, you have had Brooke “assaulted”, and “killed off” Q. Is there any “logical” explanation for why Brooke would contact Deb, rather than Haley and/or Nathan, for help when she was assaulted?
Brooke is Jamie’s “God Mother”. She picks up Jamie from school very often. Brooke is Haley’s best girl friend in Tree Hill. Brooke would “logically” seek help from Haley if Lucas and Peyton were out of town. Brooke barely knows Deb, and the only thing Deb has to offer Brooke is her familiarity with hand guns. It makes no sense that Brooke would contemplate “killing” her Mother over their C/B business dispute. Why else would Brooke need a gun? Personal defense? Please do not “ruin” Brooke’s character with some misguided “revenge” motive.
Brooke is the most “optimistic” of all the OTH characters. Brooke’s “inner strength” is why she can “bounce back” from any “set back”. There are far better ways (legal action?) for Brooke to deal with her Mother than to use a gun. If you are pursuing some “anti-gun” “social comment”, please don’t “sacrifice” Brooke in the process.
Mark, The CW Network seems to “disrespect” OTH, and its actors, when it comes to show publicity and schedule “slots”. Half of the publicity advertising spots during a typical OTH show broadcast are for “Gossip Girl”, “90210”, or some other new CW TV show. With the exception of Chad Michael Murray’s 2008 Teen Choice Award for Best Male Actor in a TV Drama (and both Hilarie Burton’s and Sophia Bush’s nominations for 2008 Teen Choice Award for Best Actress in a TV Drama), OTH has gotten the “shaft” all summer regarding OTH 6. Part of that is due to the “self-imposed secrecy” about to whom Lucas “proposed marriage” in the last episode of OTH 5.
For example, what “brilliant” CW Network scheduler slotted OTH against Monday Night NFL Football in the Monday, 9 PM slot? OTH was “securely” (and dominantly) slotted for years on Tuesday nights at 9 PM. That slot was “awarded” to the new CW show, “ Privileged”. Why not slot “Gossip Girl” and “One Tree Hill” on Wednesday night at 8 PM and 9 PM respectively, and move “Next Top Model” and “Privileged” to either Monday or Friday night with their largely “all female” audience?
Another “dis” of OTH occurred in July, 2008, when the 26th birthdays of OTH costars, Hilarie Burton (July 1) and Sophia Bush (July 8), were NOT shown in TV Guide, People Magazine, or local newspapers, whereas the 27th birthday of Rachel Bilson (costar of the former TV show, "The O.C.") in Aug. 2008 was prominently displayed in TV Guide magazine. I know that the OTH cast relishes their “personal privacy” and relative "anonymity" in NC, and I admire and respect them for that. However, OTH, and the cast themselves, suffers when the Entertainment Media don’t think the birthdays of two of the CW Network’s highest rated TV show’s lead actresses are not “important” enough to even mention in print.
I personally think Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush are two of the most talented and beautiful young actresses in TV and movies today. Ms Burton and Ms Bush deserve better treatment by the Entertainment Media. I guess if you are a “good person” (like Burton and Bush are) in your private life, off screen, the Media don’t consider you to be “news worthy”?
Mark, unless you and/or the OTH actors/actresses get “bored” with the TV series, there is no reason that the OTH TV series should not easily reach 200 episodes (10 years?), or beyond. OTH fans are certainly behind you and devoted to the TV series. Comments?

Peyton: Look, I don't need you defending me and my work. I don't need you analyzing it or interpreting me either. And in fact, I'm pretty sure I don't need you at all.

Haley : Yeah this is my house. Um... we're staying here while we renovate the mansion.
Nathan: (Laughs) It's not like I was trying to show off.
Haley: Wasn't that your default setting? Sorry.

Nathan: Don’t call him that.
Peyton: And the way you’re playing that girl.
Nathan: What? Are you talking about Haley? Is that what this is about? Peyton, she means nothing.
Peyton: Okay, if that’s the case, then you’re an ass. And even if she does mean something, you’re still an ass and what’s really sad, Nathan, is that you’re too stupid to get that. So thank you for being such an amazing son of a bitch last night. You really made this a no-brainer.

Okay...I half expected OTH to have a cliffhanger ending as their season finale because they are notorious for doing that BUT, what a tease! Seriously why show the Lucas' phone call in the previews if they are going to tell us who he is calling! I really hope it is Peyton...through out all of season 5 I kept waiting and thinking this is going to be the episode...the episode where Luke and Peyton get back together...but it never happened. Here are my thoughts on who is on the otherside of that phone call:
Brooke: Probably not! Luke and Brooke haven't had an "in-love" relationship since like season 3. That ship has sailed. The only reason the writers put that whole I love you Luke, I love you too Brooke thing in there was to confuse us...I think it is just a friends love.
Lindsey: I'm not as sure about her as I am about Brooke. I know how hard Luke has been trying to hold onto her because Peyton broke his heart. But, for some reason I got the impression that he is starting to move on. The reason I say that is because when Lindsey called him to tell him she misses him the look on his face when he looked down at Peytons art on the basketball court kinda made me wonder because he is starting to let those feeling for Peyton come back.
Peyton: I am kinda partial to this one because I want to see them get together but, when Peyton told Luke it was her dream to marry him I think Luke took that to heart. He know deep down that's what he wanted in the first place and now she is telling him that is what she wanted too. But, for some reason I have a bad feeling this is not what is going to happen because OTH tries to do the exact oppisite than what everyone wants or expects.
We will see in the fall. Does anyone know when the exact air date is for season 6?

I am Leslie, but most people call me Les. I am almost sixteen and I live in the U A. A lot of people don't understand my ways, or why I would ever want to teach. The truth of it all is that I want to teach something fun. Something that sprakes up a student's life, like art did mine. It seems a bit of a big dream for me to profill, but just one person would profill it. They are now my only dreams, though. Some of my dreams seem so out of reach though, because of what I am going against. I want to secretly be a famous singer someday. I don't want to be treated like a celebrity, but I want to be well known.
The reason for this is because we have this show at our high school every year. This is the time where you can try-out, and have the chance to strut your stuff on the stage alone. It is one of the greatest experences to have a chance to try out, and I really hope I make it actually. Since otherwise I will be singing in the choir once again, with my voice trying to blend with the younger voices. But other than that all I really want is a family, and a stable one at that. I don't want it to feel like it does here sometimes. Like my parents' marrage is on edge, and if they slip too many bad things about each other it will disappear.
My friends highly support my goals, especially my two best friends Tippy and arah. One of them will be going to college, and the other will start up high school. Though, even with this age gap we are really close. Me and Tippy found the show One Tree Hill, and we automatically noticed how much I was like Haley. I seemed very focused on my goals, and I would never give them up even if it seemed selfish. My friend Tippy on the other hand, after awhile figured out she matched Peyton the most. Which in a lot of ways is true, and I am hoping her love with her boyfriend lasts. Even though it is true love, with her recovering from depression I don't know what might happen.
My Tippy I love to death, and she is just like my sister in every shape and form. She is great support even with her struggles. We help each other out, and we will always owe each other. So, in the end we just end up calling it even. Even with this great Haley and Peyton mix we knew that we were missing a key part. That key part came in with my cheery, and love struck star arah. She is like Brooke in a lot of ways, and I try to lead her in the right direction. But in all truth, I feel like Sarah completes our group. It was like we needed her to have a long lasting friendship with each other.
I really don't know what will happen, but all these fifteen and almost sixteen years I have lived have been action packed. There is never truely a dull moment in my life. Though, sometimes I wish that I did have that time. I am hoping to student coach (tutor) next year, and do a lot of things in the choir and drama departments. I am in love with art, and I will always want to be something big that will change the world. I don't want to feel like I am not important in this world. I want to make a big change for this Earth, and I am determined to do it someday.
